Licence and driving.

Do I need a boating licence?

Not always. Two of our boats — Dalmatinka and Remija (20 HP each) — don't require one. The four speedboats (Cap Camarat, Key Largo 20, Invictus, FIART) do need a Croatian-recognised licence; most EU equivalents are accepted. Send your document at booking. → Full blog post

What if I don't have a licence and want to go to Cres?

Take a skipper. The no-licence boats can't reasonably do the Cres run; a skipper on a licensed boat solves it. → Skipper vs self-drive

Are EU licences accepted?

Most are — German Sportbootführerschein See, Croatian kategorija B, ICC, Italian patente nautica, etc. Send your document at booking; we confirm before you arrive.

Can my partner take the wheel if I'm the licence holder?

Under your supervision at anchor or slow speed, yes. The licence holder is legally the driver of record.

Booking and prices.

Why don't you publish prices on the site?

Because they depend on the boat, dates, duration, skipper, fuel, group — and a flat list would mislead more than inform. Tell us your day in the inquiry; Dražen replies inside one working day with a tailored quote. Even if your dates are mid-August peak, send the inquiry — the reply window stays the same. Fuel is at regular gas-station prices, no extra cost, no surprises at settlement.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak summer (July–August) — as soon as you have dates. For shoulder months — a few days. Day-of works in low season.

How do I book and pay?

Reservations are made by phone or email only — no online booking, no deposit at booking. Once we confirm dates and boat, you're booked. Full payment is settled on the day, before departure.

On-site we accept: cash (EUR), cards (Visa debit, Visa Inspire, Visa Premium credit/charge, Mastercard credit + debit, Maestro debit, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay), and wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) via SoftPOS + physical POS terminal.

Can I cancel?

Yes — and we handle it directly and in good faith. There's no fixed percentage tier. If your plans change, contact Dražen as early as you can; we'll work it out by mutual agreement. Weather cancellations called by us are at no charge — we offer an alternative date or full refund.

Is there a damage deposit?

Yes — a damage deposit (insurance deductible / franšiza) is collected on-site at boat handover and refunded on safe return. The amount varies by boat; we include the exact figure in your inquiry reply alongside the quote.

How are the boats insured?

Every Fru Fru Boats vessel is insured with Generali Osiguranje (Croatia): mandatory third-party liability (obvezno), comprehensive hull (kasko), and passenger cover for all persons aboard (osiguranje svih osoba na plovilu).

The boats.

How many people on each boat?

Boat Seats
Cap Camarat 7.5 12
Key Largo 20 8
Invictus 8
FIART OASSI 22 8
Dalmatinka 8 (no licence)
Remija 6 (no licence)

Are the boats fuelled when I pick them up?

Yes — full tank at handover. Fuel return policy is in the rental agreement.

Is there a toilet on board?

The licensed boats have a head (small toilet). No-licence boats: plan around it — most guests swim.

Are kids allowed?

Yes — every boat carries kid-sized life jackets.

The day itself.

Where exactly is pickup?

Rabac harbour, eastern side of the main quay along Obala Maršala Tita 59. We send the exact berth + boat name with your booking confirmation. → Find us in Rabac harbour

How long is the drive from Pula airport?

About 60 km, one hour in summer traffic.

Can I leave my car at the harbour?

Yes — public parking lots within a few minutes' walk, paid in season. We send the closest current option.

How early should I arrive?

20 minutes before departure for the briefing.

Weather and conditions.

What if the weather is bad?

We don't run unsafe trips. If the forecast looks wrong on the morning, we offer an alternative day or move the booking — no charge. Without the surprise call from you, Dražen calls you: when the bura is forecast to blow, we phone the night before, propose a sheltered fallback (Plomin Bay), and rebook the same booking to a better day.

Bura, jugo — does the wind matter?

Yes. Bura (north-east) makes east-coast trips uncomfortable (Brseč, Cres). Jugo (south) exposes the southern coves. The skipper or self-drive briefing adjusts to the day.

What's the season?

April to October. June + September are the calm-warm sweet spot. July–August are busiest. April + October need forecast checks.

Can I do multi-day rentals?

Yes — and they're a great way to split a Rabac coast day + a Cres day across a stay. Multi-day quotes via /contact/.

Food and drink aboard.

Can I drink on board?

Self-drive: cap it — driving a boat over the limit is the same offence as in a car. Skippered: at your discretion.

Do I pay konobas directly?

Yes — the konoba bills you at the table. We make the reservation. Nonina and Konoba Porat are cash-only; the others take cards.

Can I bring food and drink?

Yes — the boat has a cooler. No glass bottles, please (deck-friendly: cans, plastic, aluminium).

What we provide and what to bring.

Life jackets, safety kit, anchor — everything standard for Croatian licensed rental.

Plus: GPS, radio, shower (licensed boats), sun awning, sometimes a snorkel mask. → Packing checklist
