4 Hidden Coves Near Rabac Reachable Only by Boat
Four hidden coves near Rabac you can only reach by boat — Rabac riviera unnamed bays, Prtlog, Drenje, Brseč pebble cove, Blue Cave at Lubenice.
In short
The Rabac coastline is mostly cliff-and-pebble. Four places Fru Fru sends guests when they want their own water — listed roughly in order of distance from Rabac harbour, with one famous outlier on Cres. None of them are reachable by car except the last, which is reachable by a 40-minute steep walk down — making the boat the obvious move. One Cres-Lubenice forum verbatim sets the bar for that walk: "the walk is 45–50 min down. It is a pretty tough walk and near the end the rock shale is slippery."
1 The Unnamed Rabac Riviera Coves
5–15 minutes from Rabac harbour. Between the town and Plomin Bay the coast is cliff-and-pebble for nearly the whole stretch. Most of the best coves don't have names worth posting — they're local-boater geography. We have two or three favourites we send guests to depending on wind and crowd; we don't name them publicly because that's how "hidden" stops being hidden.
What you get: a 15-minute cruise, anchor in calm turquoise water, swim until you've forgotten what time it is. → Rabac riviera coves page
2 South Rabac Snorkel Loop
8 to 15 minutes south of Rabac. Three stops as one half-day: Prtlog peninsula (two coves on two sides), Drenje & Ravni (snorkel-grade twins), Sveta Marina (two reef walls). Reef-grade water at all three. Marina Rabac's own boat-rental page lists Drenje as a known route, so they're proven; far enough from Rabac core that they don't get the noon crowd. The best self-drive day for the no-licence boats — short hops, sheltered water, three different snorkels.
3 Brsec Pebble Cove
25–30 minutes north, below the medieval village of Brseč. Cliff above, pine, pebbles, glassy water. A past guest's verdict on this kind of stop fits exactly: "a very small quiet beach ideal to access by boat." Land access is a stair descent from the village; the boat skips that. A quiet water-only swim stop — half-day if all you want is the cove.
4 The Blue Cave At Lubenice
60–70 minutes west on Cres island (boat-dependent) — not technically a cove, but a sea cave in the same bay as Sveti Ivan beach. One forum verbatim captures the inside better than any operator copy: "the cave is amazing. There are 3 parts (or different chambers) in the cave… the colours are amazing." Inside the cave, sunlight enters through an underwater opening and the whole interior glows blue. The land alternative is a 30–40 minute steep descent from Lubenice village (and a 1.5-hour climb back). The boat is the obvious route. Pair with Sveti Ivan beach for the full Cres-day combination.
→ Even if August is the only month that works for you, the further-out coves stay quiet — Drenje, Sveta Marina, Brseč. Want the cove map? Inquire and we'll send our personal go-to list with your booking. /contact/
Why The Boat Changes The Cove
A cove without facilities is just a stretch of coastline if you arrive by land — you have to carry water, shade, food in. By boat, the cooler is on the boat, the shade is on the boat, and when you've swum enough you start the engine and you're home in fifteen minutes.
The boat doesn't just give you access. It gives you a base camp that floats.

Common questions.
Will my cove be empty?
Depends on the month and the spot. June and September — usually. August — share with one or two boats; the further-out coves are quieter than the close ones.
Can I anchor anywhere?
In most of these coves yes. Skipper places the boat; self-drive guests get a chart with marks for where to drop and where not.
Are there facilities?
No. None of the four have a kiosk or a toilet. That's the point. Bring water, food, sun shade.
Can I snorkel in the coves?
Yes — the South Rabac snorkel loop stops (Drenje, Ravni, Sveta Marina) are especially snorkel-grade. Bring a mask or borrow one of ours.
